According to the results of the reporting period, the actual ore extraction amounted to 943 thousand tons, which is 9% higher than the projected volume (863 thousand tons) of production for the specified period. Accordingly, the volume of the final product (Dore alloy) was 22,672 ounces.
Despite the difficult economic situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, production has not been stopped or suspended. Moreover, since the beginning of the year, the number of employees in RG Gold has grown by 13% to 830 people. The number of employees of RG Processing project company as of the same date of the end of the reporting period was 72 people, the growth of the staff in the company in comparison with the beginning of the reporting period was 60%.
RG Gold allocated KZT135 million for the fight against COVID-19 to Birgemiz Relief Fund, as part of the assistance of Verny Capital Group of Companies. In addition, the company has taken a number of measures to ensure the support and safety of its employees and residents of the region. Monthly staff re-shift has been successfully implemented. The rotating shift schedule has been changed from 15 days of work and 15 days of rest to 30/30, accordingly. All employees undergo PCR testing and are provided with all the necessary protective products at the expense of the company. There have been no pay-cuts and layoffs, on the contrary, the company’s staff continues to grow.

Start of earthworks for the construction of the Complex for processing primary gold-bearing ores in the Akmola region with a capacity of 5 million tons of ore per year was an important outcome of the first six months of the current year. Within the frames of preparation for the start of the Complex construction, the company has already held public hearings in May of this year. The next public hearings are planned for September 2020. Positive state expertise for tailing storage facility, water conduit and the Gold Extraction Plant itself have been received. Detailed information on this can be found on the company’s website. Timely receipt of all necessary permits allows the company to carry out all works in accordance with the planned schedule. Completion of the GEP construction is scheduled for the end of 2022.
Thus, the work began on the construction of a power transmission line – a power transmission line with a length of 70 km, as well as a tailing storage facility in accordance with all international standards. In addition, preparatory work for the expansion of the rotational camp by 350 places is underway.
It is worth noting that the company underwent changes in management team. Darrell Clark stepped down as head of the company, while remaining its adviser. This decision was motivated by the need to stay close to his family and friends during with the COVID-19 global pandemic. Anuar Shalkarbekov, who previously held the post of Financial Director of the company, has been appointed Acting General Director. Galym Ospanov was appointed COO.
During this period, the company has introduced a program of recognition of merit and achievements of employees of RG Gold and RG Processing. In July, in honor of the Metallurgist Day, the first awards found their owners. The leaders of the production were presented with badges of recognition and letters of appreciation in recognition of their merits in the development of the company.
